I have worked with this fellow to resolve the issue. It was one of our coin boxes purchased by the prior owner of the laundry in 2005. He sent it to us and we examined it and are still puzzled as to WHY it was stuck this way. When examined the box, that had been pounded out from the rear, there was very little damage except to the lower right hand corner. The galvanized tray was distorted somewhat. It was hard to tell if the damage was prior to the pounding or as a result of the pounding.
The Medeco lock worked perfectly, So we put it in a new box so he could continue to have the same key all the way through and returned it to him. The new box works fine. We can only guess that the box had a coin or some other object caught in the lower right hand clearance hole for the hollow nut that holds the box together in that corner. A quarter would not do this, too large a diameter, But a loose screw or other small object may have fallen it to it at some point. A mystery.
